While many Morgans from this mintage are heavily abraded, this mint-state piece has smooth frosted fields and mostly unperturbed surfaces.
This Morgan Dollar is a more than exceptional example of the New Orleans mintage of 1892.
The obverse of this specimen has a fantastic cartwheel shine simmering through its lustrous semi-proof-like surfaces, and the obverse will just blow you away with its gorgeous nearly perfect appearance. It will leave you breathless! Barely missing the MS66 grade, this gorgeous specimen has received a full MS65 GEM grade from PCGS. In reality this specimen should be a MS65.9.
The New Orleans mint was notorious for having very poorly struck specimens due to the over-use of their dies. This Morgans strong features are clear evidence that it was an earlier strike from their dies. The result is extraordinary details in all of the devices.
Mint State Morgans from the 1892 mintage are becoming increasingly difficult to find as collectors tend to rapidly add them to their collections!
Note that a total of 155 specimens have graded MS65 with PCGS
